Program Highlights:
- Students selected will need to be available to start on May 11, 2026, in orientation and department training.
- Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Training will start the week of May 18, 2026, and will be in session for approximately 9 weeks.
- Students will attend class and labs for 24 hours per week. Class and labs will be taught locally at Northern Lecture Mayo Hospital in Dover Foxcroft on Monday's, Tuesday's and Thursday's from 8:00 AM
- 4:30 PM.
- This program requires externship in one or more Northern Light CA Dean Hospital practice(s). The externship will start later in the program and may replace some of the employee's worktime.
- Students will work 16 hours per week as a Medical Assistant (non-certified) in a Northern Light CA Dean Hospital assigned practice around their required education time. This time is considered paid work time.

Program Requirements:
- 18 years of age or older high school graduate or equivalent from a state-sanction program
- Maine resident.
- Willing to work as a Medical Assistant (non-certified) while in training.
- Willing to travel to Northern Light Mayo Hospital (Dover Foxcroft) while in training for class and lab.
- Willing to commit and work as a full-time certified clinical medical assistant for Northern Light CA Dean Hospital for a minimum of two years following training.
- If an internal employee, you must be in good standing and have been in your position for a minimum of six months (unless approved otherwise) Working Position

Job Summary:
Provides direct and in-direct patient care under direction of office leadership. Performs duties such as routine intake of patients which includes taking vital signs, performing point of care testing as appropriate and assuring patients understand their discharge instructions. May also be required to transport patients. They will also be required to answer phone messages, propose orders per the JPP and assure providers are made aware when there are outstanding tasks on their desktops/message center that they must complete. Communicates and interacts with patients and families, physicians, peers and other health care members to maximize successful customer outcomes and maximize function of the unit. Orients patient to hospital environment and routine. Attends and serves on one-unit committee or educational peer opportunity to improve quality and/or engagement. Documents all aspects of patient care in a timely manner. Participates in unit quality improvement initiatives. Provides care in accordance with the patient's plan of care. Label and Delivers specimens per policy. Maintains a safe environment complying with Northern Light Health policies and procedures; reports and directly addresses environmental hazards and violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed. Demonstrate system values and integrates them into daily practice. Actively support patient-centered care with sensitivity and respect for the diversity of human experience. Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere. Basic ability to use and navigate Northern Light Health employee applications, such as to review pay statements, record timekeeping and to send and receive emails. Ability to provide age-appropriate care. Ability to be adaptable to a fast-paced ever-changing environment.
