Job Description

Job Summary Works under the direct supervision of RNs, providing direct patient care by assisting patients with changing clothes, linens, ambulation, and transport. Maintains a clean and orderly patient care environment. Obtains and records patient vital signs, provides nutritional intake and reports results and observations. Cleans and prepares patient carts utilizing appropriate OSHA standards, including PPE. Assist in stocking of appropriate clinical areas (patient bays)-assist with inventory counts as directed. Copy and assemble various forms for patient charts. Exhibits a positive professional demeanor with Patients, Families, Physicians, Staff, and Visitors. Complies with all facility policies and procedures. Performs computer entry as directed for case history. Performs other functions as directed by their Supervisor.
Qualifications:
The individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required. Supply management Excellent written and oral communication Infection control Customer focused Confidentiality Familiarity with medical terminology Current BLS certification.
Physical Requirements:
Included but are not limited to: Standing for long periods of time Lifting up to 50lbs Pulling and pushing linen carts Moving patients Stooping and bending Exposure to blood and body fluids and other hazardous materials Responsibilities and Expectations The following description of the job responsibilities and performance expectations are intended to reflect the major responsibilities of the job, but is not intended to describe the minor duties or other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time. Obtains and documents patient vital signs, height and weight, estimates nutritional intake and output etc. and reports results and observations. Explains procedures. Provides direct patient care by assisting patients with dressing and undressing, changing linens, getting in and out of bed, ambulation, etc. Prepares specimens for analysis and transport. Answers and responds to patient call lights and requests. Communicates effectively with patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals. Assists with post-operative care, including monitoring vital signs and providing wound care. Ensures patients are comfortable and safe after surgery. Observes proper body mechanics while performing work area duties and patient care, including transporting. Answers patient questions, provide instructions for follow-up care. Assists with patient discharge by transporting patients due to transfer or discharge. Maintains patient records and ensures accurate and complete documentation. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by adhering to safety protocols and regulations. Maintains designated certifications such as BLS/CPR, as appropriate. Performs support duties including running errands, picking up supplies, delivering specimens, unpacking and storing supplies, counting inventory, clinical log/case history. Maintains patient, physician, and employee privacy and confidentiality per policy. Follows the Center's professional conduct (including but not limited to: reporting to work on time, clocking in and out, dress code policy.) Personal Development Attends in-services, conferences and meetings as required. Assists with other responsibilities of center as deemed necessary by management.
