Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dedicated and professional Front Desk Receptionist/Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. This role is vital in providing exceptional patient service, managing medical administrative tasks, and supporting clinical operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, and a compassionate approach to patient care. Prior clinic or medical office experience is required, along with proficiency in medical terminology and billing procedures. Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations. Responsibilities Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, ensuring excellent patient service and communication. Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and assist with billing and collections using systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, and eClinicalWorks. Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software; manage multi-line phone systems with proper phone etiquette. Maintain and update patient records within EMR/EHR systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Review documentation for accuracy and completeness; assist with intake procedures and data entry tasks including CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding, and medical billing documentation review. Assist clinicians with administrative support including filing, data entry, and managing medical records. Support clinic operations by managing front desk activities such as answering phones, handling patient inquiries, and coordinating care plans. Ensure the smooth flow of office functions by supporting office management tasks like filing, documentation review, and office supply management. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA standards and other regulatory requirements. Qualifications Proven experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment; dental clinic experience is a plus. Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, eClinicalWorks, Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or similar platforms. Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-9/10 coding, CPT coding, Medicare procedures, and insurance verification processes. Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), typing (including 10-key typing), and health information management software. Excellent customer service skills with professional phone etiquette and bilingual abilities preferred to serve diverse patient populations effectively. Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail; prior clerical or administrative experience is advantageous. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and health information privacy standards necessary for maintaining confidentiality. This position plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality healthcare services through effective administrative support and exceptional patient interactions.
