Our clinics provide high-quality, patient-centered care to students, families, and underserved community members throughout Detroit. We are seeking a dependable, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant (MA) to join our outpatient healthcare team. Position Summary The Medical Assistant supports healthcare providers in delivering high-quality patient care through clinical assistance, patient intake, laboratory procedures, immunization management, documentation, and administrative support. This role is essential to maintaining efficient clinic operations and ensuring a positive patient experience. The ideal candidate is organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare environment. Essential ResponsibilitiesClinical Duties Perform routine clinical procedures including: Blood draws/phlebotomy PPD placement and reading SQ and IM injections (children and adults) Vaccine administration EKGs Spirometry Breathing treatments Vital signs and patient intake Prepare and administer medications, point-of-care tests, and treatments as ordered by healthcare providers Assist providers during patient examinations and procedures Accurately document patient care information within the electronic medical record (EMR) Schedule patient appointments, diagnostic testing, and procedures as directed Communicate medication refill and pharmacy requests as instructed by providers Vaccine & Inventory Management Perform daily, weekly, and monthly vaccine inventory management Maintain vaccine storage and monitoring standards Complete required VFC monthly reporting processes Maintain adequate medical supply inventory and place supply orders as needed Clinic Operations Clean and prepare patient rooms between visits Sterilize instruments and maintain infection control standards Ensure patient care equipment is functioning properly Assist with referral management and tracking, medical records, scanning, and documentation processes Support clinic workflow and perform additional MA-related duties as assigned Performance Expectations Maintain accurate and timely documentation Demonstrate professionalism and strong customer service skills Work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment Maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism at all times Collaborate effectively with providers, nurses, front office staff, and interdisciplinary team members Demonstrate strong organizational and multitasking abilities Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, required Medical Assistant certification, preferred Current BLS certification or willingness to obtain upon hire Previous primary care experience, required Experience with electronic medical records, required Familiarity with vaccine administration, required Experience with referral tracking and management, required Experience with Prior Authorizations, required Skills & Competencies Ability to perform clinical procedures safely and effectively Knowledge of medical terminology and basic laboratory procedures Strong organizational and time-management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to operate standard office and clinical equipment Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to changing clinic needs Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is: Compassionate and patient-focused Reliable and detail-oriented Comfortable multitasking in a busy clinic environment A strong team player Passionate about community healthcare and service
