Contract Assignment Position Summary We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Pathologists' Assistant to join a pathology team in Jackson, MI. The ideal candidate will be responsible for assisting pathologists with the examination, dissection, and preparation of surgical specimens while ensuring compliance with laboratory and regulatory standards. Schedule Details Assignment Length:
8 Weeks Monday through Friday 9:00 AM•5:30 PM Overtime is billable after 40 hours worked per week Key Responsibilities Perform gross examination and dissection of surgical pathology specimens. Describe and document specimen findings accurately and completely. Select and submit appropriate tissue sections for histologic processing. Assist pathologists with autopsy procedures when required. Ensure proper specimen identification, handling, and processing. Maintain accurate records and pathology documentation. Operate and maintain laboratory equipment according to established protocols. Adhere to all laboratory safety, infection control, and quality assurance standards. Collaborate effectively with pathologists, laboratory staff, and healthcare providers. Required Qualifications Education & Certification Candidates must meet one of the following requirements: Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Pathologists' Assistant program OR PA(ASCP) Certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Certifications Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Preferred Skills Strong knowledge of surgical pathology procedures and specimen handling. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to work independently and efficiently in a fast-paced laboratory environment. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Familiarity with laboratory information systems and pathology documentation. Why Join This Assignment?
