Medical Assistant - Oncology Services -
Contingent Schedule Job Summary:
Provides clinical and administrative support to physicians to ensure efficient patient care delivery. Responsible for preparing patients for exams, assisting with procedures, performing routine tests, maintaining exam rooms and supplies, and supporting front office operations. Communicates non-critical diagnostic results and medication information to patients and performs basic telephone triage.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare patients for exams by recording vital signs and chief complaints. Assist physicians during exams and procedures, including gynecological exams and sigmoidoscopies. Perform routine tests and procedures (e.g., EKGs, urinalysis, injections). Maintain clean and stocked exam rooms, procedure areas, and supply cabinets. Schedule tests and follow-up appointments; complete referrals and requisitions. Communicate routine diagnostic results and medication instructions to patients. Document patient interactions and update medical records. Provide back-up support to reception, office assistants, and cashiers. Ensure compliance with confidentiality, safety, and quality care standards.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent. Minimum six months of medical assistant experience or completion of a Medical Assistant certification course. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
