coding Full Job Description Basic Function To assist all physicians and patients with needed activities related to patient care on a daily basis. Responsibilities 1. Greets patients upon arrival and assures patient charts are located in the proper place, verifies patient demographic information 2. Schedules appointments for patients according to the type of appointment; ensure appointment hours are filled in accordance with appointment scheduling guidelines 3. Prepares & maintains medical records; whether paper or electronic 4. Answers multi-line telephone in a courteous and timely manner; accurately takes messages and conveys them to staff or Doctor 5. Confirm appointments and follow-up with patients regarding missed appointments via telephone. Retrieve and file records in accordance with daily schedules 6. Documents within patient medical records as needed i.e.: prescribe medications, physician orders, etc. 7. Review physician schedules daily 8. Advises Office Manager and or Team Lead of items that need to be ordered for the front desk 9. Participates in staff and educational meetings 10. Opens the patient care areas of the building at the designated time each day, ensures the readiness of the back office area(s}, and ensures that the front desk activities are fully operational at the start of business hours 11. Organize and maintain file systems for quick retrieval of information 12. Collects and posts charges and payments according to protocols, prepares and balances daily financial registers, and submits all forms to the onsite biller 13. Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms; maintaining in a neat and clean manner at all times 14. Accurate documentation within the medical records of interaction(s) with patient's, medical records, physicians, and outside sources related to patient care 15. Comply with patient needs at all times 16. Escort patients from the waiting room to examination rooms; complete & obtain required information 17. Ensure patient records contain all pertinent information 18. Completion of patient care related documents 19. Entry, follow up, obtaining or executing physician orders within medical record/ EMR 20. Alert Physicians of patients' issues or needed information prior to beginning exams 21. Assist Physicians with clinical duties, but not limited to i.e.: injections, position transfers, disrobing, aspirations, urine specimen collection- other procedures as necessary 22. Monitor supply levels, and replace as needed 23. Instruct patients regarding the information needed upon departure of the office to include: post-procedure care, contact information for physician contact if needed, etc. 24. Emergency management- access patient vitals, determine physician need, monitor patients' pre and post-procedure; notice signs and symptoms of reactions to medications. 25. Perform x-ray using a C-arm machine and maintain technique if applicable 26. Instruct patients regarding the information needed once they leave the office to include: fitting or use of braces, medication usage as prescribed by the physician, exercise programs as prescribed by the physician 27. Use/understanding of electronic medical records and the flow of information 28. Confidentiality of patient-related information 29.
