Full-Time Job Summary Under the direction of a licensed physician and in accordance with established policies and procedures, the Medical Assistant provides clinical and clerical support to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care. This role assists with patient examinations, performs basic clinical procedures including proficient phlebotomy, documents care, and supports scheduling, billing, and medical records processes while demonstrating a strong commitment to customer service and the Trinity Health mission and values. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Clinical Support & Patient Care Prepare exam rooms and patients for physician examinations. Assist physicians during examinations and procedures and follow through on physician orders and plans of care. Perform clinical procedures including phlebotomy (venipuncture proficiency required), specimen handling, lab testing, EKGs, and tympanograms. Identify abnormal versus normal test results and communicate findings appropriately. Administer medications as directed by physicians. Triage patients using established protocols. Reinforce discharge instructions. Documentation, Scheduling & Care Coordination Maintain accurate patient documentation. Schedule diagnostics and specialty referrals. Utilize billing sheets and basic ICD-9, ICD-10, and CPT coding. Support managed care guidelines including authorizations. Operations, Quality & Compliance Maintain medical supplies and equipment. Participate in quality control and proficiency testing. Follow emergency response protocols. Attend staff meetings and required training. Comply with Trinity Health policies, ethical standards, and regulations. Required Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED required; college preferred. Graduate of accredited NCCA Medical Assistant program or three years of experience.Licensure / Certification
Certified Medical Assistant (AAMA preferred; AMT, NHA, or NCCT accepted). Current CPR/BLS certification. Experience & Knowledge Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy required. Previous patient care experience preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, insurance, and EHR systems preferred. Physical Requirements Ability to stand/walk up to 80% of the workday.
