Medical AssistantLocation US-MI-Auburn Hills Job
The Medical Support Specialist (MSS) is responsible for performing routine medical and testing procedures under direct supervision of the treating clinician as well as supports in other areas of the facility as needed including registration and referral management. This role requires efficient and accurate delivery of one-on-one patient care while thriving in a fast-paced environment. The MSS ensures that every patient is treated the with quality clinical care and receives an excellent patient experience from welcoming, respectful, and skillful colleagues.
Hours are Monday-Friday 11:00a-7:300p Responsibilities Perform Department of Transportation (DOT) and Non-DOT drug and alcohol testingPrepare patients for physical examinations, including taking vital signs and any required or requested ancillary testing including but not limited to vaccines and injections, phlebotomy, PFTs, audiogram testing and respirator fit testingPerform rapid screening tests (influenza, strep, mono, glucose, etc.)Assist providers during examination and treatmentResponsible for performing routine medical procedures as ordered by treating clinician as well as triaging emergent patients as neededPrepare and assist clinician with procedure set up and injury careApply bandages, dressings and splints as ordered by the treating clinicianDispense medications and DME as ordered by the treating clinician in accordance with state regulationsComplete quality assurance activities on equipment and medical devices as well as testing processes used in the centerMaintain supplies, clean rooms and equipment, and stock exam roomsMaintain and operate all medical devices and equipment, including calibration and record keeping in accordance with current policy and proceduresNotify supervisor immediately if equipment is not functioning properly, supplies are needed, or facility is not operating as expectedIn partnership with center leadership, assist with patient flow and volumeKeep patients informed of expected wait times during all aspects of the center visitResponsible for clerical tasks in both the front and back office associated with patient care and proper record keepingEnsure accuracy in documentationPerform front office duties: greet patients, obtain authorization, check in/out, communicate wait times, answer multi-line telephone system, and distribute employer results/paperwork as neededFollow HIPAA guidelines and safety rulesAttend center staff meetings or huddles as requiredAssist in maintaining a neat, clean, and orderly appearance throughout the facilityComplete any applicable training including but not limited to clinical competency training that occurs monthlyThis job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Qualifications Education Level:
Vocational/Technical/Business SchoolGraduate of an accredited medical assistant program with completion of an externship highlypreferred, OR at least one year of direct patient care experience as a medical assistant, OR military medical specialist experience (must meet credentials in the state of employment in accordance with state requirements and applicable regulations)Job-Related ExperienceCustomarily has at least six months or more of medical assistant experienceKnowledge of medical procedures and medical terminologyWorking knowledge of occupational medicine requirements (state specific) preferredJob-Related Skills/CompetenciesConcentra Core Competencies of Service Mentality, Attention to Detail, Sense of Urgency, Initiative and FlexibilityAbility to make decisions or solve problems by using logic to identify key facts, explore alternatives, and propose quality solutionsOutstanding customer service skills as well as the ability to deal with people in a manner which shows tact and professionalismThe ability to properly handle sensitive and confidential information (including HIPAA and PHI) in accordance with federal and state laws and company policiesAble to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear, and professional mannerTeamwork focus with peers and center leadership team; ability to maintain working relationship with all levels of colleaguesMust participate in initial and ongoing training as requiredObtain all certifications required of Medical Support Specialists including but not limited to Drug Screen Collection, Breath Alcohol Certification, Hair and Oral Fluids CollectionIntermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook and entry of data into various systems/applications Additional Data 401(k) Retirement Plan with Employer MatchMedical,...
