Job Description

We are seeking a Full-Time Front Desk Receptionist /Medical Assistant Float to join our established Rheumatology care center in Royal Oak, MI and provide excellent customer service to our patient. This position is a hybrid and the ideal candidate will be able to handle a variety of tasks, such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, collecting payments, answering phones, rooming patients, taking vital signs, cleaning exam rooms, etc. The successful candidate will be organized, detail-oriented, able to work in a fast-paced environment, experienced, motivated, energetic, organized, and dependable to provide compassionate care to our valued patients. Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate daily administrative activities including scheduling/confirming patient appointments, patient check-in, and check-out, collect co-payments, verify insurance eligibility, and maintain patient medical records. Performs a clinical review of charts for upcoming appointments. Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, test results, and pre-exam interview responses. Collect, organize, and enter patient data into the practice EMR system. Prepare treatment rooms for clinical examinations and assist practitioners with medical procedures, lab requests, and other patient care. Performs patient education when appropriate; to include basic clinical information and instructions about medications. Facilitate patient prescription refill request and calls for medications to pharmacy. Maintain correct inventory levels of medical and office supplies. Explain common medical procedures to patients and assist in basic examinations. Perform front desk duties including answering multi-line phones, taking messages, faxing, filing, and scanning documents. Obtain authorizations from referring providers prior to patients' office visit and pre-authorizations for specialty medications. Complete appropriate electronic forms as required for the patient's medical treatment. Plans, coordinates and participate as needed in meetings, appointments, conferences, seminars, and workshops. Ensure that the clinic is properly maintained for cleanliness, sterilization, and infection control. Perform other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Prior medical office experience and basic medical terminology preferred.
EMR proficient:
NextGen preferred. Bilingual - English & Spanish a plus. Medical Assistant Certification (CMA) a plus. BLS Certification a plus Strong customer service and communication skills. Multitasker and ability to work independently. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
