Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and detail-oriented Clinical Receptionist / Ophthalmology Medical Assistant to join our ophthalmology practice. This position plays a vital role in ensuring efficient patient flow, excellent customer service, and support for physicians and technicians throughout the clinic. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment and demonstrate exceptional communication and multitasking skills. Key Responsibilities Clinic Receptionist & Administrative Support Answer and manage incoming calls at the clinic technician station. Maintain efficient patient flow according to the daily schedule. Schedule, confirm, reschedule, and follow up on patient appointments, including no-show appointments. Track referrals and follow up on laboratory and imaging orders. Escort patients to optical services or checkout areas as needed. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation. Clinical Support Call in prescription refills when approved by the physician. Electronically prescribe medications when authorized and maintain required certification. Prepare laboratory and imaging order templates for provider review and signature. Prepare informed consent forms and operative reports as requested. Assist physicians and technicians with patient care and clinical procedures. Learn and assist with procedure room setup for various procedures. Enter medications and update patient information as needed. Assist with patient triage and make prompt decisions regarding emergency appointments. Notify physicians or supervisors of potential emergencies. Compliance & Quality Standards Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations. Adhere to all internal compliance policies and applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Maintain sample logs and other required documentation. Foster positive working relationships with patients, physicians, and fellow team members. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; medical assistant training preferred. Previous experience in a medical office, ophthalmology, optometry, or healthcare setting preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment. Knowledge of medical terminology and patient scheduling procedures preferred. $15.00 - $18.00 per hour
