Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our dynamic healthcare team. This vital role involves providing comprehensive clinical and administrative support across various medical specialties, including dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, medical terminology, and clinical procedures, ensuring a seamless patient experience from intake to discharge. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality healthcare delivery in diverse settings such as Level I and Level II trauma centers, emergency medicine units, and specialized clinics. Key responsibilities include performing patient intake procedures, recording vital signs, assisting with diagnostic tests such as X-ray and laboratory procedures, managing electronic health records (EHR systems), and supporting physicians with medication administration and basic life support. The role requires a proactive approach to patient service, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to adapt in fast-paced environments including inpatient units like the PICU and Geriatrics wards. Responsibilities Conduct patient intake assessments by collecting medical histories and documenting symptoms accurately. Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature. Assist healthcare providers with clinical procedures including X-ray imaging, medication administration, and basic life support protocols. Support documentation processes within EHR systems ensuring accuracy for billing and medical records. Prepare patients for examinations or treatments by explaining procedures clearly and addressing concerns professionally. Manage medical supplies inventory and ensure sterile techniques during clinical tasks. Support hospital-based teams in inpatient settings such as internal medicine wards or surgical units. Assist with ICD coding for diagnoses to facilitate accurate billing and record keeping. Facilitate communication between patients and providers by providing exceptional patient service. Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations related to privacy, safety, and infection control standards. Experience Prior experience working in dermatology, hospital medicine, urgent care, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable. Experience with Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers enhances understanding of emergency protocols. Familiarity with medical-surgical units, geriatrics, PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit), or OR (Operating Room) environments is advantageous. Knowledge of anatomy and physiology principles relevant to various specialties. Proficiency in using EHR systems for documentation and billing purposes. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications such as ICD coding or X-ray assistance are preferred. Previous hospital experience involving inpatient care or emergency medicine supports adaptability in high-pressure situations. Strong understanding of medical terminology across multiple disciplines including internal medicine and geriatrics.
