Full Job Description Shift:
Days (Primarily 8a-5p)
  • Required to rotate a late-night Monday or Tuesday each week, hours will be scheduled between 8a-8p.
  • Required to rotate a half-day Saturday 1-2 times per month between September and May.

phckids.com Job Summary Under the direction of Pediatricians and Advanced Practice Providers, the Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for preparing patients for provider appointments by collecting medical histories and taking vitals as well as assisting with medical care. The MA should be able to perform tasks with accuracy and speed as well as anticipate the needs of providers and patients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Report to work time on time and as scheduled. Prepare patient rooms for the day. Escort patients to room; prepare patients for examinations. Record height/weight, pulse and blood pressure for well visit; measure head circumference on infants 30 months old and younger; chart and graph findings. Ask parent or patient about chief complaint and document. Administers vaccines. Perform vision and hearing screening as necessary. Assist doctors as needed with sick visits, as well as well-child visits, school or camp physicals, and paperwork preparation as needed. May assist with training and acclimating new Medical Assistants (MAs) to the practice. Clean and restock rooms and equipment. Assist as needed with securing referrals and making specialist or test appointments. Relay messages as may be required by physicians. Obtain blood samples by finger stick or venipuncture. Urine culture and analysis preparation Prepare for and run laboratory tests; this includes
COVID-19
testing. Assist providers and nurses with procedures. Prepare instruments for autoclave. Order and stock supplies. Cleans and sanitizes patient rooms, and any additional touch points as required based on public health guidance related to the pandemic. May also assist with training and orienting new Medical Assistants to the practice; answering phones, sanitizing waiting rooms, reviewing and confirming patient demographic and insurance information at each visit. Provide patient education.
EMR Preparation:
Identifies and reviews immunization records in MCIR and Develo (EMR). If new patient locates old records from filing (or parent) If new patient with no immunization records, obtains releases from parent to request records, contact previous health care center to obtain immunization records via fax. Empties provider "out" baskets periodically throughout the day. Schedules same day sick call and some well visits as needed during the day.
