Duties are related to the efficient flow of the clinic, from patient rooming to assisting with medical procedures to patient scheduling and patient calls. Further description of duties are listed below. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Walking patients to their exam rooms Scribing and entering information as needed in EMA/Modernizing Medicine Obtains patient consents for procedures Setting up and assisting physician with medical procedures May administer medications (including IM subcutaneous injections) with physician order Reviews instructions with patients Prepares and maintains exam rooms Maintains and tracks medical supply inventory Sterilizes medical instruments Takes and addresses patient calls, and answers basic patient questions regarding treatments, procedures, and diagnoses Assists with patient care coordination Prior Authorizations Assists with answering phones and scheduling patients Assists with patient check-in and check-out if needed Other duties as assigned Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program is highly preferred; 2 years or more of Medical Assistant. Basic knowledge of medical terminology. Experience with EMA/Modernizing Medicine and familiar with prior authorizations on biologics a plus. Physical Demands Ability to communicate in an active, fast moving environment. Ability to efficiently operate all job related office equipment (telephone, computer, calculator, fax, and copier). Ability to communicate via telephone.
