The Department of Ambulatory Services at Barnes-Jewish Hospital consists of the multidisciplinary staff of BJH Ambulatory Services including responsibility for the GI Labs, Minor Procedure Center, Pain Management Center, Diabetes Center, Resident Clinics, Wound/Ostomy Center and other services as assigned. This department assures that all customers receive the highest level of attention and prompt, courteous service.

  • Role Purpose
  • This position provides support to the clinical care team under the direction of the nursing staff. Duties include support of the outpatient visit through selected tasks according to practice protocols and procedures.
  • Responsibilities
  • + Cleans, prepares and stocks supplies in exam rooms.
+ Performs clinical skills such as point of care testing and EKGs. Maintains accurate and prompt documentation in the medical record. + Supports the outpatient encounter with knowledge of patient flow (including scheduling appointments, tests, and lab work), insurance processes, and coordination of resources including durable medical equipment. + Assist, as trained, in outpatient procedural visits through duties such as the set-up of instruments, labeling of specimens, and general chaperoning of patient exams. + Obtains patient information including vital signs, patient histories and other health information through the medical record and patient screening. Relays important information to the health care team in a timely manner. + BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.
