DESCRIPTION
Job title: Medical Assistant Reports to: Office Management Job Purpose Medical Assistants are responsible for providing various essential clinical and administrative duties for the physicians and clinic, and also being instrumental in helping patients feel at ease during their office visit. This role is a significant aspect of our clinic for many reasons, but most importantly because of it's role with initial patient contact. First impression is everything, and we strive to ensure that our patients are greeted with the utmost respect, professionalism, and sincerity. Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist your assigned physician(s) with daily flow of patient appointments, ensuring each patient is professionally greeted, placed in exam rooms in a timely manner, and prepared for examination
  • Ensure proper intake of medical histories and vitals is documented in patient charts before the physician(s) see them, along with updating general information, such as pharmacy preference
  • Assist the lab with drawing blood, as needed
  • Maintain a high-volume inbox of daily tasks from your physician(s) or nurses, such as relaying lab results, treatment options, instructing patients about medications, scheduling referrals, etc.
  • Aid with clinical correspondence between our clinic and patients by means of telephone or mail
  • Prepare exam rooms for next day appointments, making sure each room is clean and stocked with the necessary items
  • Assist in work-flow operations, such placement of samples, scanning, checking voicemails, or any other responsibilities delegated to you by your physician(s) or manager Qualifications Must be credentialed as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), including phlebotomy.
Medical office is preferred; although, it is not required. Must have effective communication and organizational skills, the ability to prioritize and maintain responsibilities with limited supervision, proficiency with computer and technical literacy, efficient problem-solving and teamwork skills, interpersonal abilities, and the ability to maintain a positive, professional attitude. Working Conditions This job requires the ability to work early morning hours, and flexibility with afternoon hours. Work hours for Medical Assistants are 7:15 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 7:15 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Fridays. There are certain responsibilities, however, that must be completed prior to leaving each day, so flexibility with work hours is a necessity for this position.
