What We Offer Certified Medical Assistant Novant Health Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery -
Asheville Schedule:
Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm Join the team at Novant Health Plastics & Reconstructive Surgery in Asheville, where you'll play a key role supporting both the administrative and clinical operations of a busy specialty practice. This position is ideal for a Certified Medical Assistant who enjoys variety, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and is comfortable balancing patient-facing clerical responsibilities with hands-on clinical support. In this role, you'll spend a significant portion of your day supporting front-office operations, including answering phones, scheduling appointments, coordinating patient communications, assisting with insurance authorizations, and ensuring a seamless patient experience. You'll also provide clinical support as needed, including rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for visits and procedures, and performing phlebotomy. Why Novant Health? What You'll Do Answer and manage incoming patient calls with professionalism and compassion Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care Learn and assist with insurance authorizations and referral processes Support patient registration, documentation, and administrative workflows Room patients and collect medical histories and vital signs Perform blood draws and other clinical duties as needed Collaborate closely with providers and teammates to ensure efficient clinic operations Deliver a remarkable patient experience during every interaction
What We're Looking For Education :
High School or GED, required. Candidates will provide proof of current certification from one of the approved certifying registries including:
  • CMA with the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
  • CCMA with the National Health Career Association (NHA)
  • RMA with the American Medical Technologists (AMT)
  • American Registry of Medical Assistants (NHCWA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
  • National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP)
  • American Allied Health (AAH) RMA with the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA).
If a candidate is not currently certified, they must obtain certification or registration by the end of the sixth month of their hire and sign an education agreement.
Experience :
Previous work in a medical office, preferred.
Licensure/Certification :
Current certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire as CMA, RMA or CCMA, required Refer to Life Support Training Policy

Current State Drivers License (Palliative Care Only), required Additional Skills/Requirements (required) : Ability to successfully complete generic and department specific skills validation and competency testing.
