Job Description

Overview Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Functional Medicine/Medical Assistant, where you will play a vital role in delivering personalized, holistic patient care. You will support clinicians by performing clinical and administrative tasks, ensuring smooth patient flow, and contributing to the overall success of our functional medicine practice. Duties Assist with patient intake, including gathering medical history and documenting symptoms accurately Measure and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature Prepare patients for examinations and procedures within outpatient or inpatient settings Support clinicians with procedures including medication administration, and basic life support when needed Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient encounters and treatment plans Conduct ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for diagnoses and treatments to ensure accurate billing and recordkeeping Provide exceptional patient service by addressing questions, explaining procedures, and ensuring a welcoming environment Support hospital medicine, emergency medicine, or clinic operations with knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology Assist with clinical tasks related to dermatology, geriatrics, internal medicine, or medical-surgical specialties as required Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas. Skills Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology across various specialties such as dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, and outpatient clinics Experience working in hospital settings including Level I or Level II trauma centers; familiarity with inpatient care protocols is preferred Proficiency with EHR systems for accurate documentation and coding; knowledge of ICD coding is essential Ability to perform intake assessments, vital signs collection, and basic medication administration confidently Knowledge of emergency medicine procedures and basic life support certification required Experience with X-ray procedures or assisting in surgical environments like the OR is a plus Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations including geriatrics and pediatric patients in PICU settings Familiarity with hospital experience in medical-surgical units or internal medicine clinics enhances your effectiveness in this role Join us if you're passionate about advancing holistic health through functional medicine!
