Medical Assistant (Part-Time) AVC Primary Care -
Raleigh, NC Position Type:

Compensation:
$18-$20 per hour, depending on experience About AVC Primary Care AVC Primary Care is a physician-owned primary care practice dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate healthcare to patients of all ages in the Raleigh community. We focus on preventive care, wellness visits, chronic disease management, medication management, weight management, women's health, and acute care services. We are seeking a customer-focused and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our growing team and help deliver an exceptional patient experience. Position Summary The Medical Assistant will support both front office and clinical operations. This role serves as an important point of contact for patients and is responsible for ensuring a welcoming, professional, and efficient experience from check-in through checkout. The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, organized, and comfortable working in a small practice environment where teamwork and patient service are highly valued. Essential ResponsibilitiesPatient Reception and Customer Service Greet patients and visitors in a professional and friendly manner Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries Schedule, reschedule, and confirm appointments Check patients in and out Verify patient demographics and insurance information Collect copays and patient payments Assist patients with forms and registration documents Provide exceptional customer service and patient support Clinical Support Prepare patients for examinations Obtain and document vital signs Update medication lists, allergies, and medical histories Assist the physician during patient visits and procedures Perform specimen collection and processing Draw blood for laboratory testing (preferred) Administer injections and vaccines as directed Prepare and stock examination rooms Maintain cleanliness and organization of clinical areas Administrative Support Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) Scan and upload patient documents Assist with referrals and prior authorizations Coordinate laboratory orders and results Maintain HIPAA compliance and patient confidentiality Support office operations as needed QualificationsRequired High School Diploma or GED Strong customer service and communication skills Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment Professional appearance and demeanor Basic computer proficiency Ability to work independently and as part of a team Preferred Experience performing blood draws (phlebotomy) Previous experience working in a medical office Primary Care or Family Medicine experience Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) Experience with insurance verification and patient scheduling Medical Assistant training or certification Physical Requirements Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 25 pounds Ability to perform clinical tasks requiring manual dexterity Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods Schedule Part-Time Up to 20 hours per week Flexible weekday schedule Potential for additional hours as the practice grows Why Join AVC Primary Care?
