Wilmington Dermatology Center, voted top Dermatology practice in Wilmington and a leader in medical and cosmetic dermatology in eastern NC, is seeking an outstanding Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced team. We are a fast-paced office with high expectations for our staff, yet at the same time we have a great working team environment and love providing our patients with the best service. In our practice we perform a balanced mix of general dermatology, surgery, cosmetic dermatology, and we are also involved in clinical trials. The right candidate must have strong computer skills, attention to detail, the ability to multitask in a busy environment, experience in providing service excellence, a desire to help other team members, a great work ethic, and a willingness to learn new skills. Although we are ideally looking for someone with prior medical assisting experience, we are willing to train the right candidate on the specifics of dermatology. About the Role:
At WDC we provide our patients and clients with the highest level of service with a focus on results. The Medical Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring a seamless and compassionate experience for patients across DermCare's network. This position supports both administrative and clinical functions and serves as a key liaison between patients and providers. You'll be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting during procedures, managing documentation in the electronic health record (EHR), and ensuring that all back-office operations run smoothly.
This role requires a high degree of professionalism, empathy, and adaptability, especially in fast-paced environments such as dermatology, cosmetic, and surgical settings. Key Responsibilities:
Rooming patients, reviewing patient histories, and utilizing electronic medical records on a tablet PC Assisting the providers in documenting the details of patient encounters and providing support during treatments and procedures General exam room prep prior to and after visits Assisting providers in providing patient education on treatments and medication (post op expectations, etic) Tracking, documenting, and calling back biopsy results, lab results, and other registry related information etc. Performing phone triage duties related to patient's medical questions, new appointments, etc. Performing registration duties related to certain drugs and performing prior authorizations Maintaining cleanliness of work areas, patient rooms, and assist in ordering/tracking supplies Learning and educating patients on dermatology and cosmetic related conditions and treatments Learning about cosmetic dermatology related products and treatments and making recommendations to patients where appropriate Qualifications:
Medical and EMR experience is required unless the candidate has other relevant experience. The position provides a great mix of medical and cosmetic exposure with opportunities to learn more about skin care and cutting-edge treatments EMR and medical environment exposure Strong work ethic and a team player Cheerful personality who strives to provide our patients with uncompromising service Reliable and dependable Quick study Strong attention to detail Interests in dermatology and skin care (prior dermatology experience is a plus) Experienced with technology (electronic medical records,etc) and able to multitask College degree/advanced training is preferred Willingness to conduct a random drug test and perform a background check Compensation & Benefits:
