Full-Time Position Summary:
Arbor Care Solutions is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to join our outpatient behavioral health clinic. This position plays a vital role in supporting patients receiving Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including Suboxone treatment, as well as individuals participating in Substance Abuse Intensive Outpatient Programs (SAIOP), Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT) services, and acute primary care. The CMA will work closely with medical and behavioral health providers to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining efficient clinical operations and a safe, therapeutic environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Support:
Assist providers in the delivery of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), including Suboxone services, in accordance with regulatory guidelines. Prepare patients for medical and behavioral health appointments by obtaining vital signs, weight, and relevant medical history. Provide compassionate, respectful, and nonjudgmental care to individuals experiencing substance use and mental health challenges. Educate patients on treatment plans, medications, and follow-up care instructions as directed by providers.
Clinical Responsibilities:
Administer medications under the supervision of licensed providers and accurately document all services provided. Perform routine clinical procedures, including: Phlebotomy (blood draws) Urine drug screenings Point-of-care testing EKGs Maintain exam rooms, treatment areas, and medical equipment to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness for patient care. Monitor patients and report concerns or changes in condition to the appropriate provider.
Care Coordination:
Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of behavioral health clinicians, primary care providers, case managers, and support staff. Assist patients with scheduling, referrals, treatment adherence, and follow-up appointments. Document patient progress and treatment-related information in accordance with
SAIOP/SACOT
program requirements.
Administrative Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate and timely documentation within the electronic health record (EHR) system. Schedule appointments and manage referrals as needed. Communicate professionally with patients, families, pharmacies, laboratories, and outside providers. Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all confidentiality standards.
Compliance & Quality Improvement:
Follow clinic policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including those related to controlled substances and MAT services. Participate in required training and continuing education related to behavioral health, substance use treatment, and acute care services. Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to a culture of excellence and patient safety.
Qualifications:
Required:
Active Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification through an accredited organization (AAMA, NHA, or equivalent). High school diploma or equivalent. Current CPR certification or ability to obtain upon hire.
Preferred:
Experience working in behavioral health, substance use treatment, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), or primary care settings. Knowledge of SAIOP, SACOT, and substance use treatment programs.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively with diverse populations. Proficiency in phlebotomy, medication administration, specimen collection, and basic diagnostic testing. Knowledge of electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical software. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all situations.
Work Environment:
This position is based in a fast-paced outpatient clinic providing behavioral health, substance use treatment, and acute care services.
The role requires:
Frequent standing, walking, and movement throughout the clinic. Occasional lifting and transporting of medical supplies and equipment. Direct interaction with individuals experiencing mental health and substance use challenges. The ability to respond calmly and professionally in complex clinical situations
