Job Description
West Omaha Dermatology is seeking an energetic, personable, and team-oriented Medical Assistant to join our incredible team. We are truly committed to providing excellent, patient-centered care in our fast-paced and growing dermatology clinic and are searching for the ideal motivated candidate. Job Functions - The Medical Assistant is an essential part of our team in providing dermatology patient care and common dermatology procedures.
This role includes:
Preparing exam rooms and equipment to facilitate treatment and examination of patients. Checking patients into clinic by bringing them back to the exam room, collecting chief complaint, vital signs and history. Charting and scribing the patient encounter in the patient's electronic medical record. Producing and distributing correspondence memos, letters, faxes and forms. Administrative duties such as fielding phone calls, tracking test results, completing prior authorizations and informing patients of their lab or pathology results. Communicating the dermatologists' plan to patients. Preparing patients for procedures and assisting provider with common dermatology procedures/surgeries. Ordering diagnostic testing at the direction of the provider or following provider approved protocols. Administering treatments, per physician orders. Conducting lab testing and preparing specimens to be sent to outside lab. Performing inventory audits of medications and supplies to ensure quality control within the clinic. Cleaning and sterilizing equipment, per protocol. Checking out patients and scheduling patients for follow up appointments. Adhering to office policies and procedures, rules and regulations and other State and Federal regulatory requirements. Completing other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Effectively communicate with patients, coworkers and vendors. Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner. Manages difficult or emotional patient situations. Adapts to changes in the workplace and competing priorities. Active team player. Proficient in typing and Mac-based software. Competent in using office machines such as copiers, printers, faxes and calculators. Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program. One year or more of experience, preferably in a physician office setting. Previous experience with Electronic Medical Record preferred. Nebraska Medication Aide Certification required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Physical Demands/Work Environment Frequent physical activity including walking, sitting, standing, reaching overhead, bending and lifting up to 25 pounds. Exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues or infectious materials or illness in the working environment.Note:
