Job Description
Job Summary The Certified Medical Assistant for the Women's Center functions as a member of the healthcare team performing delegated patient care, administrative duties, and environmental tasks. The CMA works under the direction and supervision of the Lead Interpreting Physician (LIP) ensuring compliance with medical regulations and delegation of duties within the CMA's scope of practice. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Ensures an optimal patient experience by adhering to the organization's policies and procedures, mission, vision, and foundations. Treats each patient as their most important priority. Contributes to the essential delivery of safe, high quality, patient-centered care by reporting to work punctually and working all scheduled hours on a predictable and consistent basis. Schedules screening and diagnostic mammography appointments and ultrasound and MRI breast procedures. Verifies patient information and ensures accurate documentation in the electronic medical record system. Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy of medical records. Ensures appropriate follow-up and care coordination as directed by the provider. Provides post-biopsy care, including dressing changes and patient education on infection prevention and site management. Monitors, replenishes, and stocks supplies and linens for the Women's Center and ensures cleanliness of the area. Assists with ordering supplies as needed. Responds with flexibility to changing workload. Prioritizes job responsibilities to facilitate optimum patient care and utilization of resources. When needed, the incumbent may assist with the following duties: 1. Escorts patients to the exam room, prepares patients for the exam or treatment, and discharges patients at the conclusion of their appointment. 2. Triages patient phone calls and providers follow up for the needs of the patient. 3. Collaborates with breast care team to provide pre and post calls to patients, assists with coordination of additional breast diagnostic procedures per physician request, and monitors breast pathology to ensure appropriate and efficient delivery of results. Performs other duties/tasks as assigned by management. Job Requirements and Qualifications Education and Experience High School diploma or equivalent Completion of Accredited Medical Assistant program Two years' experience as a Certified Medical Assistant preferred Prior experience in physician office setting preferred Certifications or Licensure Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification Valid Basic Life Support certification (BLS) Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to demonstrate compassion, empathy, and a commitment to patient-focused care Ability to effectively contribute as a team member promoting cooperation, collaboration, and flexibility in working with others to achieve quality patient care Ability to take initiative, be self-motivated and an independent, accountable, dependable performer Effective communication skills with demonstrated ability to express ideas and technical information clearly and concisely in a manner appropriate to the audience Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate calmly, compassionately, and professionally with patients and families Ability to be accountable for quality customer service and respond appropriately to a variety of personalities and situations Ability to maintain confidentiality, security, and standards of ethics with all information Comply with all state/federal regulations (including HIPAA), company policies, standards, and health & safety rules Demonstrates critical thinking, problem analysis, and problem resolution skills Ability to work effectively in a high volume, fast-paced environment Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly Ability to use and understand medical terminology Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records.
