Job Description
Overview:
Established Pain Management practice seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Medical Administrative Assistant. This role focuses on insurance verification, referral coordination, and administrative workflow support in a fast-paced specialty practice. This is not a traditional front desk role and not a dedicated prior authorization position. However, candidates must have a strong understanding of insurance processes and prior authorization workflows. Reliable transportation and the ability to travel between satellite office locations is required.Core Responsibilities:
- Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and referral requirements
- Ensure all required documentation is in place prior to patient visits
- Coordinate referrals and communicate with referring providers
- Support authorization workflows by gathering required information and documentation
- Communicate with patients regarding insurance requirements and scheduling updates
- Maintain accurate and organized patient records within EHR systems
- Assist with front desk/check-out functions as needed (secondary responsibility)
- Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality standards
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 1-2 years of medical office experience (REQUIRED)
- Strong understanding of insurance verification and referral processes
- Familiarity with prior authorization workflows (REQUIRED
- not primary responsibility)
- Proficiency with EHR systems and computer-based scheduling platforms
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage follow-ups
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Professional communication skills
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel between locations (REQUIRED)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in pain management or specialty practice
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
