Location:
Philadelphia Campus ‌ The medical assistant is primarily responsible for enhancing the overall efficiency of the outpatient practice by assisting the physicians, medical students and other medical personnel with clinical procedures. Assistance is provided through proper patient flow, diagnostic testing, blood drawing, and specimen processing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful incumbent will perform the following duties, with or without reasonable accommodations: Perform a variety of tasks to prepare patients for their physician visits, including but not limited to the following: blood pressure, weight, temperature, EKG, spirometry, hearing test, venipuncture injections, and specimen collection; obtain and prepare equipment and supplies at physician's request in preparation for patient examinations. Assist with completing administrative tasks, including paperwork, billing, scheduling, and reception duties. Prepare and update, or assist with preparing and updating, patient charts and medical records, as applicable; inform physicians of lab results and other medical details, as required, in preparation for examinations. Assist with performing exams and procedures performed by clinicians; prepare, clean, and maintain exam rooms, equipment, consult and storage areas. Administer oxygen and perform emergency procedures when necessary, as directed by physicians. Assist with maintaining inventory of office, medical, and pharmaceutical supplies, including advising appropriate responsible individual(s) of supply needs. In addition, there will be contact with pharmaceutical representatives to obtain drug samples for the medical office. Schedule ancillary studies as necessary for patients; contact insurance companies, as needed, to coordinate referrals and ongoing care. Collaborate with other health care center staff effectively to ensure delivery of comprehensive, "patient-focused" medical support services in accordance with established guidelines and standards. Perform accurate data entr/hry to ensure the integrity of medical records system data; collect and maintain confidentiality of data in accordance with established guidelines and standards. Provide cross-coverage to other practices within PCOM, as needed. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum three years' experience as a medical assistant in a fast-paced ambulatory healthcare setting. Strong collaboration skills. Strong customer service aptitude. Strong communication skills, including verbal, written, and interpersonal. High level of computer proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, email, and virtual meeting applications, preferably on the Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 platforms. Current CPR certification.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED required Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant's program, preferred
Starting Salary:
$19/hr ‌ The referenced salary range is based on PCOM good faith belief at the time of posting.
