  • Part-time employee with opportunity to transition to Full-time Full job description The Medical Assistant will assist with patient care management.
Working collaboratively with the Physician, they will perform routine clerical, secretarial and administrative work in answering telephones, providing customer assistance, data processing, computer data entry and other record keeping tasks related to patient intake and patient care. Providing excellent customer service, the Medical Assistant will support the flow of patients from the waiting area to exam rooms and perform preparatory work on patients. Roles and Responsibilities
    Patient Care :
    Greeting and accompanying patients to the examination room. Assisting Podiatrists in providing patient care by preparing treatment rooms, escorting patients to examination rooms, and taking medical histories.
      Clinical Support :
      Help podiatrists with clinical procedures such as wound care, toenail trimming, foot exams, and minor surgical procedures.
        Diagnostic Support :
        Perform basic diagnostic tests such as blood pressure monitoring under the supervision of a podiatrist.
          Administrative Tasks :
          Schedule patient appointments, check-in/out patients, process referrals and run insurance benefits check, manage medical records, and handle billing and insurance claims. Be well versed in billing terminology including but not limited to insurance coverage, prior authorizations and denials.
            Patient Education:
            Reinforce foot care techniques, treatment plans, and follow-up care instructions to patients.
              Instrument Sterilization :
              Ensure that all instruments are properly sterilized and maintained according to healthcare standards.
                Inventory Management:
                Maintain inventory of medical supplies and equipment, and order supplies as needed. Manage dispensing of inventory including OTC, non-custom and custom products.

                Assist with specialized procedures such as orthotic fittings, casting, and biomechanical assessments.
                  Emergency Response:
                  Assist in responding to medical emergencies that may arise in the practice.
                    Compliance and Regulation:
                    Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
                    Qualifications:
                    • High school diploma or equivalent.
                    • Completion of a medical assistant training program or relevant certification.
                    • Medical/Clinical experience preferred.
                    • EMR/Data entry knowledge.
                    • Front desk experience in a medical setting is preferred.
                    • Knowledge of medical terminology and basic clinical procedures.
                    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
                    • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
                    • Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate medical records.
                    • Understanding of patient confidentiality laws and regulations.
