Job Description

Medical Assistant/Receptionist (Orthopedic Office) We are seeking a reliable and compassionate Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our busy orthopedic practice. This role combines front desk and clinical support responsibilities in a fast-paced environment focused on patient care and efficiency. The ideal candidate will be responsible for registering and checking in patients, verifying information, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow. Clinical duties include escorting patients to exam rooms, obtaining and recording vital signs, and assisting the provider during examinations and minor procedures. You will also support accurate documentation in the electronic health record (EHR) system and help ensure smooth patient intake and discharge processes. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a busy clinical setting are essential. Prior medical office or clinical experience is preferred. Responsibilities Greet and check in patients and families in a professional manner Schedule, confirm, and manage appointments and follow-ups Answer phone calls, respond to inquiries, and route messages appropriately Verify insurance, update patient demographics, and process referrals and authorizations Collect co-pays, process payments, and maintain daily billing logs Maintain and update electronic medical records (EMR) and scan/upload documents Escort patients to exam rooms and prepare them for visit and obtain and document vital signs and medical history Assist with application and removal of casts, splints, and braces as directed Coordinate with hospitals, imaging centers, and referring providers Maintain cleanliness, organization, and stocking of clinical and front desk areas Ensure compliance with HIPAA and maintain patient confidentiality Support overall patient flow and clinic efficiency Qualifications Prior experience in a healthcare environment such as clinic experience, hospital medicine, or emergency medicine is highly preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration processes. Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in managing patient data accurately. Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service and teamwork; ability to handle multiple priorities efficiently. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks associated with clinical support roles.
