Job Description

Under the direct supervision of the Laboratory Supervisor, the Clinical Lab Assistant (CLA) ensures timely workflow, maintains proper documentation, follow s safety and compliance protocols, and provides widespread support across laboratory departments.
Specimen Processing:
Performs patient registration and test ordering, verifies patient information, ensures timely specimen handling, and resolves processing issues to maintain accuracy and efficient workflow. Evaluates and prepares specimens for testing, ensuring proper labeling, distribution, storage, and processing according to established guidelines.
Equipment:
Assists technical Team Members by performing duties assigned in loading of samples, performing maintenance. Operates laboratory equipment according to procedures, troubleshoots issues or contacts support, documents temperatures, and maintains a clean, organized workspace as required.
Inventory Management:
Monitors and manages supply inventory, checks expiration dates, stores received items and keeps the storage areas clean and organized.
System Utilization:
Demonstrates proficiency in the use of HIS and LIS software applications for job-related functions.
Training and Education:
Assists with training of new team members or students as required. Completes mandatory continuing education.
Safety:
Follows PPE protocols and ensures a clean, safe workspace.
Document Control:
Follows all approved standard operating policies and procedures
Minimum Education:
Minimum High School Diploma or GED Equivalent Minimum Experience:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical laboratory or equivalent, with demonstrated proficiency in patient registration, specimen handling, medical terminology, and laboratory information systems preferred.
