Modern office setting Growth opportunities Flexible working hours Safe work environment Lively atmosphere The New Mexico Center for Pain & Wellness is currently seeking a Medical Assistant to support medical providers by performing patient care duties to facilitate efficient, high quality care, and ensure a positive experience for our patients.
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate patient care
  • Schedule appointments for patients and create daily schedules for NPs/Pas/MDs
  • Sort through incoming clinical documents
  • Request medical records from external providers as required by the provider
  • Be an assistant to
NP/PA/MD
  • Ensure an efficient patient flow; room patients in a timely manner, collect vitals and other health history information, complete required screenings and medication reviews, and administer urine toxicology.
  • Enter information in EHR.
  • Provide clean and comfortable environment for patients.
  • Build caring, trusting relationships with patients to decrease patient anxiety.
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures that exam rooms are adequately stocked
  • As required, conduct routine quality control checks including infection control measures, equipment maintenance, and checks for expired supplies
  • Notify patients of their test results when needed or instructed by the physician to do so
  • Answer phones and manage correspondence regarding pharmacy, lab, referrals, or any other pertinent questions from physicians, pharmacies and patients.
Major Procedures:
Ensure the patient is compliant with pre-op instructions (fasting, medications, has a driver) and has completed the procedure consent form. Conduct pre-operative assessment to evaluate the patients' overall health and identify any risks or concerns. Provide information to patients about what to expect before, during, and after the procedure. Check tests as directed by the provider (A1C, glucose, etc.) Inserting and removing IV's. Prep the patient with gowns, drapes, etc. as applicable. Transfer the patient to and from the pre-op, post-op, and procedure rooms. Prep the site of injection using sterile technique. Set up the providers tray with all items using sterile technique. Assist in drawing medications as prescribed, including sedation medications before the procedure. Monitor the patients' response to sedation and report any adverse reactions to the healthcare team. Operate the C-Arm in collaboration with the provider. Continuously monitor and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, respiratory rate, oxygen saturation) during the procedure to assess the patients' physiological status. Ensure the patient is comfortable before, during, and after the procedure. Assist with patient positioning to optimize the success of the procedure and maintain patient safety. Give patient post-op instructions and coordinate follow up appointments and/or care call. Collaborate with the medical team to ensure a smooth and coordinated procedure. Be familiar with emergency protocols and equipment in case of complications during the procedure. imaging as required. Track inventory for all necessary items related to procedures. Sterilize equipment in a timely manner using the autoclave. Adhere to the medication management procedure. Be familiar and compliant with the Radiation Protection Program.

Required Qualifications:
    License/Certification:
    High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program Hold a valid MA certification
      Skills and Abilities:
      Experience in Pain Management clinics Experience working in a fluoroscopy suite and operating a C-Arm Demonstrated competency dealing with adults, and geriatric patients. Flexible and able to readily adapt to unexpected changes. Exhibits behavior that is courteous, compassionate, empathetic, friendly, polite, and respectful towards patients, patients' family, nurses, physicians, and co-workers and extends self to make patients, and other members of the healthcare team feel welcome and valued. Critical thinking skills (deductive and inductive reasoning) with an ability to identify and anticipate risks. Ability to work autonomously yet collaboratively as part of a team. Good written and verbal communication skills. Good organizational skills. Listening skills and perceptiveness. Ability to remain calm under stress. Shows initiative and drives cost effective and timely results.
      Computer skills:
      Ability to quickly navigate and use multiple computer programs to include, but not limited to: Gmail, MS Word or Google Docs, Excel or Google Sheets, etc. Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
        Physical Requirements:
        Intermittent periods of standing, walking, and moving. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times. Willingness to travel (occasional travel may be required to satellite offices within New Mexico)
