Job Description

The Assistant (Not Certified) Medical Assistant is an integral part of the patient care team and acts as the liaison between the provider and the patient to meet the medical needs of the patient.

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED
- Must successfully obtain Medical Assistant Certification on or before June 30, 2023 in order to continue employment
- Completed a formal Medical Assistant training program -or- minimum of three (3) years working as a Medical Assistant
- BLS Certification [must be obtained within six (6) months of hire]
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in related clinical or medical office setting
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Does not enter verbal, telephone, or written provider orders in the medical record
- Establishes strong working relationships with providers while facilitating excellent patient care
- Consistently exceeds customer service expectations and communicates effectively
- Strong data entry and computer abilities in addition to proficiency when performing department-specific clinical skills
- Must be able to perform accurately and quickly in a busy, stressful environment, setting priorities as to duties
- Understands and follows policy and procedure
- Builds productive interpersonal relationships in every encounter and demonstrates teamwork
- Actively participates in the department
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Each employee is responsible for implementing SJRMC's Service Standards into their daily work:
Safety, Courtesy, Effectiveness, and Stewardship Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:
- Accepts the risk of exposure to job-related illness and injury which may cause long-term health problems
- Must be able to see with corrective eyewear, hear clearly with assistance, and (when required) differentiate colors accurately
- Must be able to sit and walk frequently or for long periods of time
- Must be able to stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist routinely
- Constant use of the computer and keyboard
- Must be able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to three hundred (300) pounds frequently
Special Demands:
o Sets limits when dealing with angry, hostile, or sometimes verbally or physically abusive patients and families in an attempt to ensure a safe, respectful environment that will support the delivery of care- Effectively copes and strives for balance when caring for acutely ill patients and families As you go about fulfilling this mission, your work habits and work relationships should embody SJRMC's values.
