In this role, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality patient care by assisting healthcare providers with clinical tasks and ensuring efficient patient flow within the clinic. Will help screen patients, enter patient information into Electronic Medical Record (Athena), and care coordination. A bilingual person with a certification as a Medical Assistant with at least 1-2 years of experience in a Community Health setting will be the preferred candidate. Assist medical providers with patient information, services, and tasks listed under major duties. Responsibilities Must be able to effectively and efficiently report patient history summaries to others on the medical team. Performs blood draws as needed; properly handles specimens, processes laboratory orders through the Atlas system by inputting proper procedure codes, as well as scans and records lab results in EHR upon receipt. Secures patient information and maintains patient confidentiality by completing and safeguarding medical records. Responsible for entering details of progress notes/labs/corresponding documents into the patient's EHR. Translates and transmits physician orders to and from referral sources/clinics. Works with the case manager and other members of the medical staff to seek health resources for patients. Works on referrals to specialists, diagnostic testing, and imaging by helping patients schedule appointments. Responsible for obtaining records after completion of the appointment and recording progress notes in the EHR. Completes prior authorizations for medications, diagnostic procedures, or medical supplies when necessary. Completes tasks associated with medication refill requests, delivering test results, or imaging results under the supervision of a medical provider. May also need to make follow-up appointments for patients. Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures and answering questions. Administer medications as directed by healthcare providers. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with regulations. Perform basic laboratory tests and assist with patient education regarding health management. Coordinate patient appointments and follow-up care as necessary. Requirements Certification as a Medical Assistant from an accredited program is required. 1-2 years of experience as a medical assistant. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy is essential. Experience in a healthcare setting preferred, especially in primary care or community health. Excellent communication skills for effective patient interaction. Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
