Job Description

The Medical Assistant assists the RN Clinical Supervisor with maintaining medication records, copying confidential medical information, and inputting sensitive medication information into the Therap system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Audit medical sections of persons served records to assure accuracy, purge as necessary Order, check in, log new, expired and/or discontinued medications. Perform medication/medical related audits on homes monthly. Maintain appointment and lab tracking logs for all persons served. Maintain persons served appointment schedules. Copy and file medical documents in house/primary records as appropriate Make and distribute consultation forms for medical appointments Input appointment results into Therap system Weigh persons served monthly and as needed Enter monthly vitals into Therap system for clients as required by DDSD Prepare and send out appointment requests Perform quarterly pharmacy review with consultant pharmacist Prepare and mail/deliver packets of medical documents for Case Manager and Guardians monthly Request reports from labs as needed Prepare lab slips/consults Review and order medical supplies Mail and/or fax prescriptions/Dr.'s orders to pharmacy Maintain current trainings as required by agency

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Must be able to perform physical activities including lifting up to 50 pounds, transferring persons served, walking, pushing, wheelchairs, kneeling, bending, reaching and occasionally remaining on feet for long periods of time. Computer usage requiring periods of sitting.
QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Post-secondary education preferred. One year of experience in a medical/clinical setting preferred. Knowledge of medical terminology. Good written and verbal communication skills. Clear TB test. Must be at least 18 years of age and have a clear criminal record. Successful completion of the post-offer process including criminal history check and all required PRS-NM and State training.
