Job Description

POSITION PURPOSE
The Medical Assistant I position is responsible for a variety of patient care, technical, and clerical-related functions under the direction of a physician. The Medical Assistant I is responsible for the clinic-patient flow by assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of healthcare services that assist medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients and ensure the clinic/office runs smoothly.
MINIMUM MANDATORY

Experience:
No previous experience required.
Education:
High school diploma or High School Equivalency Test (HSE) required.
Mandatory Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Qualifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; maintained throughout employment. Possess a strong professional, personable and motivational personality that builds strong relationships with patients. Applications include Microsoft Word and Outlook and familiarity with electronic health record systems. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with practice leadership, physicians, advanced practitioners, colleagues and other HCMC and TPS team members. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively interact with all members of the care team and with patients and family members. Demonstrated commitment to providing the highest level of patient satisfaction. Well organized, efficient task management and attention to detail skills. Must have the ability to interact with staff (at all levels) in a fast-paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining calm, flexible, proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. High level of integrity as demonstrated by appropriate treatment of confidential or Protected Health Information; adherence to policies, procedures, rules and regulations; professional conduct in dealing with persons internal and external to the organization; sensitivity to populations served by the organization. A record of satisfactory performance in all prior and current employment as evidenced by positive employment references from previous and current employers.
