Job Description

We are hiring a Medical Assistant for our office in Carson City. As our Medical Assistant, you will provide high quality primary care as part of a patient care team in the outpatient setting. You will work with a provider as part of a team with nurse practitioners, with adult and possibly pediatric patients. The medical assistant is responsible for the initial patient assessment, prepping and assisting with exams and procedures, administering medications and vaccines under supervision of the provider, ensuring OSHA compliance, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the medical office. Responsibilities Interview patients and document basic medical history Obtain and document vital signs Prepare and assist with medical exams and procedures Obtain, result, and coordinate point of care testing Administer medications and vaccinations Triage phone calls and act as communication liaison between providers and patients Prepare and clean treatment rooms and medical instruments • Completes prior authorization requests • Keeps medical record organized and prepares chart for provider Preferred Skills Proven working experience or training as a medical assistant Knowledge of essential functions of medical office systems and procedures Knowledge of point of care lab testing and procedures Skills to administer adult and pediatric immunizations Knowledge of electronic medical records systems Skill in operating various medical office equipment, such as EKG machine, pulse oximeter, nebulizer, spirometer, etc. Ability to maintain confidentiality of information, most importantly patient financial and medical information Flexibility in schedule Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively, and sensitively to special population groups as defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, etc. Able to multitask and use time management skills to prioritize workflows Excellent written and verbal communication skills with accurate attention to detail Strong organizational and planning skills
