Buffalo Location Job Description:
The Medical Assistant supports the daily clinical and operational functions of the sleep lab by providing patient care support, assisting providers, maintaining an organized clinical environment, and ensuring a positive and professional patient experience. This role helps ensure efficient patient flow, accurate documentation, and adherence to clinical and operational protocols. The Medical Assistant serves as a key support role within the clinical team by preparing patients for appointments, providing education on sleep study processes, maintaining exam room readiness, and assisting with administrative and clinical tasks as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support & Patient Care:
Greet patients upon arrival and assist with intake and triage procedures. Verify patient demographic and insurance information when appropriate. Prepare patients for examinations, consultations, and sleep study procedures. Assist providers with clinical tasks within the Medical Assistant scope of practice. Provide clear patient education regarding sleep study procedures and expectations. Ensure patient comfort and address questions related to the visit when appropriate. Monitor patient flow and assist in maintaining an efficient clinical environment.
Patient Experience & Education:
Deliver a welcoming, professional, and patient-focused experience. Provide clear explanations of sleep study procedures and appointment expectations. Help patients understand next steps in their care or treatment process. Maintain professionalism and empathy when interacting with patients and families. Support a calm and organized environment during patient visits.
Clinical Operations & Documenation:
Maintain cleanliness and readiness of all exam and procedure rooms before and after patient visits. Ensure all equipment and supplies are properly stocked and organized. Document patient interactions accurately and timely within the electronic medical record (EMR) system. Follow established documentation standards and clinical workflows. Assist with maintaining clinical logs or records as required.
Front Office & Operational Support:
Support front office operations when needed, including scheduling and phone support. Assist with patient check-in and check-out processes as directed. Coordinate with administrative staff to maintain smooth clinic operations. Communicate scheduling or workflow concerns to leadership when appropriate.
Compliance & Safety:
Follow infection control protocols and clinical safety procedures. Adhere to HIPAA privacy regulations and confidentiality standards. Follow all internal policies, compliance guidelines, and clinical protocols. Escalate concerns or potential compliance issues appropriately.

Qualifications:
Medical Assistant certification preferred but not required depending on state regulations. Prior experience in a clinical or healthcare setting preferred. Strong communication and customer service skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Comfort working with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
