This role supports the efficient functioning of the clinic, ensures quality patient care, and helps maintain strong communication flow between patients and providers. Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties Greet patients, verify identity and collect patient intake information including medical history, medication list, allergies, and chief complaint Measure and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, weight) and other relevant metrics Prepare patients for examination (positioning, draping, explaining procedures Assist providers with examination, minor procedures, and patient education Perform basic laboratory tasks such as specimen collection and handling, point-of-care testing as allowed by state regulations Administer injections or vaccinations per provider order and scope of practice Sterilize and maintain exam rooms, medical instruments, and supplies Monitor inventory of clinical supplies and order restocks as needed Document clinical information and maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) Administrative Duties Schedule and confirm patient appointments, send reminders, manage patient flow Verify and update insurance and demographic information; assist with authorization and billing processes Answer phone calls, respond to messages, route inquiries to appropriate staff Assist with referrals, test/procedure scheduling, and follow-up coordination Maintain and manage medical records, ensuring completeness and compliance with confidentiality/HIPAA regulations Perform clerical tasks such as filing, scanning, faxing, data entry, and correspondence
Qualifications Required:
High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program or equivalent training Certification or licensure as required by state (e.g., CMA, RMA, etc.) 1+ year experience in a primary care or outpatient clinic preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) / CPR certification Proficiency with EHR / medical software systems Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and maintain professionalism Attention to detail, reliability, and a patient-centered mindset Preferred / Optional (depending on clinic): Additional certifications or training (e.g. phlebotomy, EKG, immunization certification) Working Conditions Clinic environment with occasional exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and medical instruments Use of standard medical equipment (e.g., exam tables, diagnostic machines, phlebotomy tools) Frequent standing, walking, bending, and patient interaction Must comply with infection control, safety, and confidentiality standards Job Type:
