Job Description
Full-Time Medical Assistant•
Primary Eye Care Reports To:
Chief of Primary Eye Care 131-72 40th Road Flushing, New York, 11354United States Responsibilities:
Direct patient care and support Perform nursing tasks under the direction of the registered nurse or authorized health care providers Interview patients and records medical history, take vital signs, and prepare patients for medical visits Conduct health/risk screening using standardized tools Collect laboratory specimens as ordered Assist providers in procedures using sterile or aseptic techniques Promote patient self-management by providing patient education, appointment reminders and support in collaboration with the care team Facilitate communication for patients and health care providers by providing translation or interpretation as needed Complete accurate EMR documentation of patient information and services provided Effective teamwork, communication and collaboration as part of practice-wide care team Demonstrate curiosity and understanding of patient registration, administrative workflows and prior authorization processes Collaborate with the care team to conduct pre-visit planning and post-visit follow-up Participate in Quality Improvement (QI) projects and other related activities Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams by communicating information; responding to requests; and participating in team problem-solving Adapt to changes in practice operations, workflows and patient needs as they emerge Adaptable to varying work locations, as occasional coverage at Manhattan/Walker Street site may be required Perform other duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma and 2 years of work experience Associate's Degree preferred Work experience in the health care field preferred Medical Assistant Certification preferred Basic CPR (BCLS) Certification required (Health Center will provide if needed) Bilingual in English/Mandarin-Chinese required Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team Good problem solving skills and interested in learning all aspects of the practiceCompensation and Benefits:
Salary:
