Job Description

An Orthopedic Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting orthopedic physicians and surgeons in their clinical practice. They are integral to the smooth functioning of orthopedic clinics, assisting in both administrative and clinical tasks. This role requires a combination of medical knowledge, organizational skills, and empathy towards patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
Greet and prepare patients for examinations and treatments. Assist patients with mobility and transfers as needed. Educate patients on procedures, medications, and post-treatment care instructions.
Clinical Support:
Take patient medical histories and vital signs. Prepare and maintain examination rooms and equipment for procedures. Assist physicians during examinations and minor surgical procedures.
Administrative Duties:
Schedule patient appointments and surgeries. Manage medical records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality. Handle insurance forms, billing, and coding for procedures.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program preferred. Certification as a medical assistant (CMA) Previous experience in orthopedics or a related field is desirable.
