Clinical Support Specialist Ascendant New York - 3.1 New York, NY Job Details Full-time $22 an hour 16 hours ago Benefits Health insurance Dental insurance 401(k) Paid time off Vision insurance 401(k) matching Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Position Summary The Clinical Support Specialist (CSS) supports the day-to-day operations of the Outpatient Day Rehab (PHP) in an outpatient setting. This role ensures smooth program flow, client safety, and effective coordination between staff and participants. The CSS provides both administrative and client-facing support, helping to maintain a structured, supportive, and therapeutic environment. Key Responsibilities Program Operations & Support Oversee daily operations, including client check-in, attendance tracking, and scheduling. Prepare group rooms, materials, and technology to ensure readiness for programming. Support staff in maintaining structured daily schedules and transitions between groups. Facilitate lunch order and setup for 12:00pm daily M-F. Assist with data entry, record-keeping, and operational documentation. Serve as point-of-contact for logistical needs (supplies, facility requests, scheduling updates) and be present in and around group spaces to support group flow and ensure client safety. Organize & label urine drug screenings (UDS) and bring to Inpatient medical staff for processing. Ensure program areas, including kitchen and supply spaces, are stocked and maintained to support client comfort and wellness. Other items to be added per Program Director. Client Care & Monitoring Supervise and monitor clients during program hours to ensure safety and adherence to program rules. Provide support with orientation for new clients, including reviewing program expectations and schedules. Conduct routine wellness checks and document observations for clinical staff. Respond calmly and effectively to crisis situations, following safety and de-escalation protocols. Support with offsite experiential groups, recovery activities, and community integration as needed. Facilitate transportation or coordination needs, if applicable. Collaboration & Communication Communicate client observations, concerns, and incidents promptly to the clinical team. Work closely with therapists, case managers, and administrative staff to support client progress. Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and case reviews. Foster a positive and respectful environment for clients and staff. Ensure accurate and timely documentation in EMR/Communication platforms (attendance, incident reports, UDS logs, client observations). Qualifications and Skills High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor's degree in behavioral health, psychology, social work, or related field preferred. Experience working in behavioral health, substance use, or healthcare setting strongly preferred. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail. Ability to manage boundaries, remain calm under pressure, and de-escalate crises effectively. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Basic computer proficiency (EMR systems, Microsoft Office, scheduling software). CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain upon hire). Maintain strict confidentiality in line with HIPAA and OASAS regulations. Physical & Work Requirements Ability to remain alert and observant throughout the workday. Occasional lifting of program materials (up to 20 lbs). Ability to escort or physically redirect clients in emergency situations if needed. On-site, outpatient setting with structured schedule (M-F, 8:30-5).
