Job Summary This paid position is ideal for students taking a gap year, aspiring healthcare professionals, or individuals looking to build a strong foundation in medical support roles. 36 hours per week. (4) 9.5 hour work days The Medical Assistant (MA) supports providers in delivering high-quality, efficient patient care within a fast-paced medical dermatology practice. Responsibilities include both clinical and administrative functions, with an emphasis on patient throughput, procedural support, accurate and timely documentation, and service excellence. The MA is expected to appropriately utilize practice-approved artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support documentation, workflow efficiency, and patient communication, in compliance with established policies and data privacy standards. Essential Responsibilities Room patients and obtain vital signs, update medications, review medical history, and chief complaints. Prepare patients for dermatologic examinations and procedures. Assist providers with medical procedures. Set up, clean, and stock exam rooms and sterilize instruments. Explain and provide post-procedure instructions to patients. Capture clinical photographs as directed by providers. Accurately document patient encounters in the electronic medical record (EMR), including scribing as needed. Prepare charts and review schedules in advance of patient visits Process prescription refills and coordinate with pharmacies Complete prior authorizations for medications and treatments Track laboratory and pathology results; ensure timely follow-up Schedule follow-up appointments and procedures At conclusion of visit, escort patient from the exam room Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, and care plans Minimum Qualifications
- Gap year students pursuing medical or other healthcare professional programs are encouraged to apply
- Medical Assistant certification (CMA, RMA) preferred
- 1+ year of clinical experience in a medical setting; dermatology experience preferred .
- Professional communication and interpersonal skills is a must.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and patient care processes
- Excellent documentation and EMR skills
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a high-volume environment
- Strong attention to detail, particularly with specimen handling and labeling
- Comfort assisting with minor surgical procedures
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines
- Ability to stand for extended periods, have manual dexterity to handle instruments and equipment, and the ability to lift and move supplies (up to 25 lbs) as needed.
