Job Description
Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Medical Assistant to join our clinical team. This role is a blend of clinical patient care and essential administrative support, with a specific focus on coordinating specialty care and managing patient referrals. Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel to Ada, OK and Gainesville, TX.
Key Responsibilities Clinical Duties:
Patient Intake:
Rooming patients and obtaining accurate vital signs on clinic days.Order Management:
Input and process all lab and procedure orders as directed by providers.Clinical Communication:
Address nursing calls and requests, including prescription refill requests.Specialized Knowledge:
Maintain a strong understanding of medical terminology and lab values pertaining to nephrology.Administrative & Coordination:
Referral Management:
Perform data entry for all patient referrals; maintain and update spreadsheets for vascular surgeon referrals (including procedure dates and types).Care Coordination:
Schedule transplant/dialysis admissions and procedures; fax referrals to appropriate locations and specialists.Patient Education:
Coordinate and schedule patients for Kidney Education sessions.Prior Authorizations:
Complete and submit all necessary prior authorizations for medications and procedures via phone or fax.Billing Support:
Prepare weekly hospital charges (Monday-Sunday) and submit them by the following Monday afternoon.Front Office Backup:
Provide backup support for answering phones and calling patients to confirm upcoming procedures. Qualifications Proven experience as a Medical Assistant or in a similar clinical role. Strong familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory results. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage spreadsheets accurately. Proficiency in faxing, EHR data entry, and handling prior authorizations. Effective communication skills for coordinating with providers, patients, and external specialists.Pay:
