Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
To assist the physician and patient in all professional and clinical procedures. Responsible for patient care duties. Assists in periodic clerical and receptionist duties as may be required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Responsible for all patient care activities as directed by the provider: a. Prepares patients to be seen by the provider in a professional and effective manner and assists with exams and procedures. b. Responds to phone inquiries and informs patients of reports as indicated. c. Administers medicine to patients as directed by the provider. d. Prepares, carries out, and/or instructs patient and /or responsible party for examination, tests, and procedures. 2. Responsible for administrative duties as required per policy and procedure: a. Prepares necessary paperwork involving tests, charges, and documentation of pertinent data in patient charts. b. Calls in prescriptions as directed by the provider. c. Responsible for maintaining a clean, organized work area. d. Maintains adequate supply levels and controls inventory. 3. To maintain a high level of professionalism and demonstrate empathy and compassion for the patients: a. Possesses reading and verbal skills necessary to understand medical records, procedures, and orders. b. Possesses and uses tact and patience. c. Maintains strict confidentiality as related to the patient. d. Maintains a professional appearance and attitude. 4. Actively and consistently contributes to the success of the clinics objectives: a. Supports policies and procedures and administrative decisions within the clinic. b. Accepts supervision and feedback from supervisor in a non-defensive manner, correcting or improving behavior as requested. c. Communicates clinical, equipment, staff and personnel problems affecting the Outpatient Clinic to the direct supervisor. d. Promotes effective and cooperative relationships with co-workers. 5. Performs in a manner consistent with the mission and objectives of the clinic: a. Supports policies, procedures and supervisory decisions. b. Utilizes established channels of communication and lines of authority for problem solving and communications. c. Understands and participates in safety programs and disaster drills. d. Observes dress codes.Environment:
Office setting May involve exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, and exposure or potential exposure may result as a condition of employment. (Employees don't need to wear protective equipment, but they should be prepared to put on protective equipment on short notice.)MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Graduation from a certified program as a Medical Assistant. 2. BLS certification.Pay:
