Job Description

Job Summary We are needing a certified medical assistant at Hamid Mahmood MD Clinic that will work alongside front desk staff and the office manager to complete all required tasks to run a single physician primary care office. These tasks are listed below but in summary are rooming patients, prepping charts, taking vitals, recording history and current problems, and any other steps required for complete patient care. Duties Assist with patient intake procedures, including collecting medical histories and recording vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates. Prepare patients for examinations or procedures by explaining processes and ensuring comfort. Support physicians during examinations, minor procedures, and X-ray imaging, ensuring all protocols are followed accurately. Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems efficiently to document patient information, treatment plans, and ICD (International Classification of Diseases) coding for billing purposes. Administer medications or injections under physician supervision, adhering to safety guidelines such as Basic Life Support (BLS) standards. Conduct basic physiology and anatomy assessments to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Perform clerical duties including scheduling appointments, managing patient flow in outpatient clinics, and supporting medical administrative functions. Assist with hospital-based tasks such as vital sign monitoring in inpatient units or Level I/II trauma centers, including PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics settings when applicable. Requirements Proven experience as a Medical Assistant in diverse clinical environments such as dermatology, urgent care, hospital medicine, or internal medicine. Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration procedures. Familiarity with EHR systems and proficiency in managing patient records accurately. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or hospital experience are a plus. Prior experience working in hospital settings such as Level I or Level II trauma centers or with inpatient units like PICU is highly desirable. Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to handle intake processes efficiently while maintaining compassion. Ability to work effectively in outpatient clinics or hospital environments including medical-surgical units and geriatrics care settings.
