Phone Numbers Job Summary:
Essential Job Functions Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, medications, medical history, and visit-related information, and assist providers as needed Prepare exam rooms and set up for procedures with appropriate supplies and instruments; assist providers during procedures Ensure instruments and equipment are properly cleaned, disinfected, and/or sterilized in accordance with clinic protocols Maintain and restock exam rooms and clinical supply areas Respond to incoming patient calls, messages, pharmacy requests, and provider communications, referring to the provider when appropriate Process prescription refill requests and route to providers for review and approval Obtain prior authorizations for medications and services as directed by the provider (may vary by provider) Accurately document in the EHR, including vitals, medications, histories, immunizations, and clinical notes Provide patient education as directed (e.g., nebulizer use, glucose monitoring, medication instructions) Collect and process specimens in accordance with clinical protocols Maintain procedural outlines or workflows to assist team members in supporting providers Assist with additional duties as needed to support clinic efficiency, patient care, and workflow Typical schedule: Four (4) 10-hour shifts per week (40 hours) Position may require occasional schedule flexibility, including coverage on Saturdays as needed
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Licensure/Certifications Required:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification or completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred:
Phlebotomy certification
Experience Required:
Ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse patient population
Preferred:
Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience Skills and Knowledge Proficiency with computers, EHR systems, phones, and office equipment Familiarity with clinical equipment, including but not limited to: EKG machines Vital sign monitoring devices Glucometers Scales Basic laboratory testing equipment Physical Requirements The physical and sensory requirements listed below are essential to the performance of this role. Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently Frequent pushing, pulling, or carrying up to 25 pounds Occasional assistance with lifting or transferring patients over 100 pounds using proper techniques and/or assistance Ability to sit for extended periods as needed
