Job Summary:
PURPOSE OF POSITION
Prepare patients for examinations, retrieve and update patient records and assist in the care of the patient.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND three (3) years of experience working in healthcare setting and in direct patient care.
  • Certified in phlebotomy
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) (May consider
EMT, CNA
with experience)
  • Requires successful completion of appropriate background investigation(s) as pertaining to the position
DUTIES:
  • Review daily schedule and ensure needed paperwork is prepared and completed for each patient. Ensure medical and lab reports are available for the provider to review with the patient.
  • Check in patients, assist them in the exam room, obtain and record vital signs, update medical history and medication record.
  • Monitor immunization records for patients to ensure compliance with recommended immunization schedules.
  • Assist provider during the patient examination and with special procedures, minor surgeries and other exams as needed.
  • Under supervision of the provider and as qualified, provide direct patient care such as injections, immunizations, CLIA waived labs, catheter changes, ear irrigations, suture removal, cast removal, dressing changes, and basic wound care.
  • Set up sterile trays and prepare rooms for procedures. Properly clean and sterilize equipment and instruments and dispose of contaminated items.
  • Submit electronic charges for all nursing services performed at the provider's direction.
  • Communicate with providers, pharmacies, and agencies on behalf of the patient to ensure timely continuity of patient care.
  • Under provider's direction, follow up with patients to communicate test results or care instructions. Monitor and respond to patient requests via the patient portal.
  • Clean and straighten exam rooms between patient visits and at the end of the day. Maintain work areas in a clean, orderly and secure manner. Make sure exam rooms are properly stocked with necessary supplies. Advise nursing supervisor when stocked supplies are low and need to be ordered.
  • Cooperatively work with clinic staff, patients, other agencies, and the public to provide quality customer service courteously.
  • Be strictly confidential about patient care and their medical record.
  • Assist others in the clinic as workload demands.

  • Knowledge of procedures for immunization, injection and medication administration
  • Communicate clearly with healthcare professionals, public, customers and staff in a courteous manner.
