Job Description

Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Certified Medical Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for patient care and possess the necessary skills to excel in a medical environment.
Responsibilities:
1. Interact professionally with all patients making every effort to remain flexible, cooperative and supportive. a. Assume the role of patient advocate taking into consideration any special needs of the patient and individualize care accordingly. b. Ensure the comfort and safety of each patient. c. Demonstrate active participation in any required emergency interventions. d. Communication of relevant information to physician, nursing and clinical staff as needed. e. Follow all Director of Nursing/Practice Manager orders and requests in a prompt manner. f. Knowledge and adherence to current infection control policies and procedures. 2. Patient records are maintained in an accurate and secure manner. a. Identification of patients consistently according to institutional policies and procedures always. b. Protect patient confidentiality while upholding HIPAA guidelines and regulations. 3. Assists in the maintenance of a safe environment for patients, self and staff. a. Have working knowledge of medical equipment necessary to perform the job. b. Patient and personnel safety procedures are adhered to such as infection control, fire safety, radiation safety, electric and chemical hazards identified, etc. c. Actively assist patients with post procedure activities that pose a potential fall risk, ie. Moving/transferring patients, assists with patient dressing/undressing, etc. d. Laundry management and restocking unit supplies 4. Recognizes the importance of time sensitive issues. a. Response time to emergencies is as immediate as possible. b. Restocking of supplies in all areas is performed efficiently. c. System issues are brought to management's attention in a timely manner. 5. Assumes the responsibility for professional development of self. a. Strengths and opportunities for professional development are identified and goals for self-improvement are set and documented. b. Annual mandatory training activities are completed within established time frames. 6. Demonstrates excellence in the delivery of technical patient care. a. Active participant in accomplishing the goals of the surgery center. b. Recognition and support of peers is provided on a routine basis. c. Time management
ORGANIZATIONAL DUTIES
1. Function as an active and productive team member. a. Help is offered to others to solve problems and complete tasks to facilitate positive team dynamics. b. Productive work habits are consistently displayed. c. Time off is scheduled to avoid disrupting workflow. d. Constructive input is offered to support the work unit. e. Accountability for actions and decisions is demonstrated in daily work. f. Feedback is solicited and accepted in a positive manner. 2. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of medical, personal, and financial information.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift >20 lbs.; moving, lifting, or transferring of patients may involve lifting fifty (50) lbs. or more. 2. Proficient communicative, auditory, and visual skills. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. 3. Acute attention to detail and ability to write legibly. 4. May be exposed to fumes, chemicals, cold, radiation, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
