Medical Assistant Job Description As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the success of our department by fostering an efficient flow and welcoming atmosphere for patients daily. You will be responsible for both administrative and clinical tasks, and your management of the daily schedule and timely documentation within the electronic health record will create a seamless patient experience. Your critical thinking and problem-solving abilities will ensure timely, professional, and compassionate care. Responsibilities Record patient's medical history, vital statistics, and test results in medical records. Prepare treatment rooms for patient examination, ensuring they are neat, clean, and stocked. Interview patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, and height. Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. Provide medically appropriate instructions to patients under physician or Advanced Practice Provider (APP) direction. Ensure all related patient information is in electronic records prior to appointments. Prepare FMLA, prior authorizations, and disability paperwork. Collaborate and work closely with other medical assistants and ancillary staff. Contribute to a safe and secure environment by following established standards and procedures. Schedule new and follow-up appointments. Essential Skills GED or high school diploma. 2+ years of medical assistant experience with back office documentation. EMR experience, Epic preferred. Excellent interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills, including medical software proficiency. Experience with office medical procedures and treatments. Knowledge of insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software. Ability to maintain a professional and compassionate demeanor in high-stress situations. Adept at managing multiple changing priorities effectively and organized. Additional Skills & Qualifications National certification highly preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Detail-oriented and highly organized. Desire to grow knowledge of medical, organizational, and administrative practices. Work Environment This position is located in Salem, OR, with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, including a 30-minute lunch break. Our practice was formed to meet the growing need for high-quality rheumatology care in the Salem and Willamette Valley area, offering efficient and cost-effective care in a physician-owned setting. We provide care for a range of conditions, including immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, rheumatoid arthritis, and lupus. The work environment is collaborative, compassionate, and committed to patient-centered care. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Salem, OR. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.32 - $29.72/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
