About the
Role:
The Medical Assistant in Pulmonology at Sina Health - Pulm, Dunmore, PA plays a critical role in supporting pulmonologists and healthcare teams in delivering exceptional respiratory care to patients. This position involves performing clinical and administrative tasks that ensure smooth patient flow and accurate documentation within a specialized pulmonary care setting. The Medical Assistant will be responsible for preparing patients for examinations, collecting vital signs, and assisting with pulmonary function tests and other diagnostic procedures. Additionally, this role requires effective communication with patients to provide education on treatment plans and follow-up care, enhancing patient understanding and compliance. Ultimately, the Medical Assistant contributes to improving patient outcomes by facilitating efficient clinical operations and fostering a compassionate care environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program. Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Experience or familiarity with pulmonary function testing and respiratory care procedures. Proficiency in electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience working in a pulmonology or respiratory care setting. Advanced certifications related to pulmonary care or respiratory therapy. Knowledge of insurance and billing processes specific to pulmonary services. Strong interpersonal skills with experience in patient education and counseling. Bilingual abilities to support diverse patient populations.
Responsibilities:
Greet and prepare patients for pulmonary examinations and procedures, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout the visit. Obtain and record patient medical histories, vital signs, and respiratory assessments accurately in electronic health records. Assist pulmonologists with diagnostic tests such as spirometry, peak flow measurements, and oxygen saturation monitoring. Schedule patient appointments, manage referrals, and coordinate follow-up care to support continuity of treatment. Manage front desk operations including check in and check out. Maintain clinical equipment and ensure compliance with infection control and safety protocols within the pulmonary clinic. Educate patients on medication usage, respiratory therapies, and lifestyle modifications to support lung health. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to facilitate comprehensive care planning and documentation.

The Medical Assistant utilizes clinical skills daily to perform patient assessments, administer pulmonary tests, and assist physicians during examinations, ensuring accurate and timely data collection. Administrative skills are essential for managing patient scheduling, maintaining detailed records, and coordinating care logistics within the pulmonology department. Effective communication skills enable the Medical Assistant to educate patients on complex respiratory conditions and treatment plans, fostering adherence and positive health outcomes. Technical proficiency with EHR systems and pulmonary diagnostic equipment ensures efficient workflow and compliance with healthcare regulations. Additionally, interpersonal skills support collaboration with healthcare team members and provide compassionate patient interactions, which are vital in managing chronic respiratory diseases. Monday to Friday - 7 AM to 5 PM
