Joint and Hip Recplacement Clinical Assistant 600 Plaza Court, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 From $15 an hour - Full-time From $15 an hour - Full-time Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Joint and Hip Replacement Clinical Assistant to support our orthopedic surgical team specializing in joint and hip replacement procedures. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in patient care, medical support, and clinical procedures related to orthopedic surgery. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient outcomes within a dynamic healthcare environment. The Clinical Assistant will play a vital role in assisting with preoperative preparations ensuring smooth clinical workflows and exceptional patient service. Responsibilities Support patient intake processes, including gathering medical histories, verifying insurance information, and documenting patient data accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems. Schedule diagnostic testing, specialist referrals and surgeries. Obtain Pre-certification and verify eligibility with insurance companies on tests and surgeries. Obtain medical clearance and testing results, prepare charts for surgery. Attend all medical patient telephone calls with good communication skills in a timely manner, return calls not to exceed 4 hours from message (no messages unattended at end of day). Monitor vital signs, administer medications as directed by physicians, and observe patients' responses throughout preoperative and postoperative phases. Telephone pharmacies with prescriptions and refills when authorized by the physician. Any special requests assigned by Management. Compliance with
HIPAA, OSHA
Regulations. Oversees/ Assists in maintaining the physician's surgery schedules. Maintain detailed documentation of procedures, patient interactions, and clinical notes in compliance with hospital policies and medical terminology standards. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including hospital, radiology and DME. Support administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, managing ICD coding for billing purposes, and ensuring compliance. Requirements Proven experience in orthopedic outpatient clinic settings. Knowledge of anatomy related to joints and hips, physiology principles relevant to orthopedic procedures, and basic life support (BLS) certification. Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems preferrably Athena, medical terminology, ICD coding practices. Strong understanding of medication administration protocols and patient service standards within inpatient or outpatient contexts. Ability to perform clinical tasks including vital signs measurement, intake assessments. Excellent communication skills coupled with organizational abilities to manage multiple responsibilities efficiently within fast-paced healthcare settings.
