Job Description

Orthopedic Clinical Medical Assistant East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 From $15 an hour - Full-time From $15 an hour - Full-time The ideal candidate will be responsible for physicians' surgery and test scheduling, telephone calls, mail, ensuring completion of required forms, filing of medical records, telephoning pharmacies with prescriptions or refills, insurance pre-certification, assisting the physician when necessary, scheduling/verifying meetings and schedules for the physicians, and any other duties assigned. This position will require the candidate to have direct access to Orthopedic physician and medical assistant team. This position requires that the candidate be outstanding at multi-tasking and prioritizing. Successful applicants will have previous work experience with Athena (EMR), scheduling surgeries, strong aptitude, and impeccable follow-up with assigned tasks. Clinical Assistant Duties Schedule diagnostic testing, specialist referrals and surgeries. Obtain Pre-certification and verify eligibility with insurance companies on tests and surgeries. Obtain medical clearance and testing results, prepare charts for surgery. Attend all medical patient telephone calls with good communication skills in a timely manner, return calls not to exceed 4 hours from message (no messages unattended at end of day). Scanning of all surgical paperwork and orders in patient medical records in a timely manner. Telephone pharmacies with prescriptions and refills when authorized by the physician. Oversees/ Assists in maintaining the physician's surgery schedules. Handle patient concerns in a timely manner. Any special requests assigned by Management. Compliance with
HIPAA, OSHA
Regulations.
Job Requirements:
You must be able to provide proof of being a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant at initial interview. This position requires that the candidate have two years of work experience in a medical office which may be substituted dependent upon the capacity. Travel to the East Stroudsburg, Brodheadsville, Tobyhanna and Milford offices.
Preferred requirements:
Typing of 40 w.p.m. or more with accuracy and neatness, knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or applications, medical terminology, CPT and
ICD-10-CM
coding, experience with handling insurance company requests and questions (pre-certifications/pre-authorizations), must enjoy working with the public and must be pleasant with the patients, must be thorough with attention to detail and get along well with other staff members, Athena experience greatly desirable, must be computer and technology savvy.
